The Professors Profess

Although the first seven letters of “professor” makes it clear, the central duty of a professor is often misunderstood or forgotten. Professors are those with a distinctive point of view which, as experts in the field, are qualified to advocate for, argue, and teach. In other words, a professor is one who professes. In this blog, we openly express our own positions on issues in ethics, religious studies, and philosophy—our areas of expertise.

Most Christians, or even non-Christians, think they know the Christmas story. Christians tend to be surer that they know it. After all, they can look at the nativity scene on their shelf. Unfortunately, the nativity scene on the shelf is misleading, as it is a mashup of elements from two different Gospels, Matthew and Luke. Moreover, that nativity set omits important parts of Jesus’ infancy narrative.

So, join us this Christmas season to explore the entire Christmas story, which starts before Christmas and continues beyond. Discover more profound meaning in the parts you may have missed or forgotten. This journey will help make more sense of the implications of the whole story. Each part of the story will be explored in a blog post.

Join us on this Christmas journey!

Here are the parts of the story to be explored. The release of each new post will be announced on social media. Or you can find them on our blog, “The Professors Profess” at Explore Big Ideas. This blog post will also be updated with links as new posts are released.
